and for those of u who think under the clintons we had it so great... How come Al Gore didnt do anything to come up with an energy plan?

why did CLinton suck the ballsac of the OPEC cartel leaders to lower oil during his re-election and not say boo to them about other issues that would have upset them???

I am not claiming to know all here, but come on people, there are some of u that will only use the NYT and NBCnews for all your info without ever picking up a book... i am not saying all, there r plenty of my friends on GFY that i chat with at every convention for years now and we go back n forth and jab at each other but some of you on here think Obama.... well u know as you can see by what gets posted.

i have been saying since day 1, both suck but McCain in MY opinion is the better of the 2 just because of his energy agenda. Do not believe the environmentalists that say if we dril now we do not get it for 10 years... thats PURE BS. Look at senator ABERCROMBIE... one of the biggest tree huggers in the country and he finally gets it. He is PRO-DRILLING and PRO NUCLEAR energy. If that guy saw the light, and flip flopped his stance think about it. This country is goig to be so screwed if we do not drill now and develop more nuclear energy now. Bush won with the anti gay marriage vote and if McCain is smart, he can win on the ENERGY issue...

Just think about our Energy situation....
First of all, to say that there are a few tree-hugging hippies that block all drilling is insane. There is a good percent of the population that does care about the environment. In fact, up until a this year, a majority of Americans were opposed to drilling in these areas. Perhaps they are all crazy, tree-hugging hippies, but I'm going to guess it's just some stereotype you found on a conservative blog.

As for drilling in this country, do you know it will take 5 years before we see any of that oil? That the amount of oil that will be produced would have an extremely minor impact on prices (if any at all). I'm not necessarily opposed to drilling if it can be done safely and with minimal impact to the environment, but this is something that should have come up 5 or 10 years ago. There was a Republican majority in the House, Senate, and Presidency for 6 years. They had ample time to pass these measurements. None of this drilling will have any effect on our prices for years to come.

As for the two candidates, I just look at what has happened. I know McCain's policies are similiar to Bush on energy. Whether you agree with those policies or not is one thing (it appears you do). All I know is that under those policies, oil has skyrocketed and alternative fuels have not advanced.

Whether Obama can fix any of that is completely a guess, and I'd argue he can't. But to sit there and say that things are going to be bad if we elect a Democrat President when we're in the middle of a clusterfuck on energy based on the policies of Republicans is laughable. The whole situation can be symbolized by holding a pile of shit in your right hand and a box in your left. You're pretty sure that the box contains a pile of shit in it as it smells like one. But you'll take your chances with that box as you already know whats in your right hand is a pile of shit and you can't really get much worse.
