When the LHC is finally at full power, two beams of protons will race around the huge ring 11,000 times a second in opposite directions. They will travel in two tubes about the width of fire hoses, speeding through a vacuum that is colder and emptier than outer space.

Couldn't help doing a little math on this one..
With the rings being 27km.. those protons are racing at 297.000.000m/s
speed of light = 299.792.458 m/s ..so getting pretty damn close to time traveling here !
Now having two objects hit each other that are traveling close to speed of light, in oposite directions... Don't know if that sounds like a good idea
