I doubt that rock in the head did much to jar his senses.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) - Chad Kroeger, the lead singer for Canadian rock band Nickelback, was sentenced on Thursday to a one-year driving ban and fined C$600 ($590) for drunken driving.
The Nickelback frontman was stopped by police for speeding in his luxury Lamborghini sports car in the Vancouver suburb of Surrey, British Columbia, in 2006. A breath test found he had nearly twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
The judge's written overview of the circumstances states that Kroeger -- whose real name is Chad Turton -- was stopped by RCMP at about 2 a.m. on June 22, 2006 after an officer saw a Lamborghini speeding down 64th Avenue in Surrey going "well over 160 kilometres an hour."
When Kroeger stopped for police, an officer noted he had red, glassy eyes and a red, flushed face.
He allegedly handed over his Visa card when the officer asked for his driver's licence.
(and from elsewhere)
Chad Kroeger is not the kind of guy to take an insult lightly. When a man loudly shouted “Nickleback Sucks!”, Chad did what any normal man would do and hit him right across the face. Apparently, hearing that the band he’s lead singer for sucks, was not the kind of feedback Chad was looking for. Police in Vancouver have not yet arrested him for the incident, which occurred outside of the Roxy nightclub.
