You pretty much summed up the exact reason why I love old coins.
I'm sure a very similar allure goes with the ligher collections. Who made them? Who used them? What were the times and location like where it traveled....
I remember back in school I never thought myself much of a history fan, until I recently discovered how much I enjoy odd things like this and of course my occasional binges of the history channel when they have some good segments on.
