I use to be a pretty hard core Democrat and I often to listened to Rush Limbaugh just to get my blood boiling. But the more I listened, the more I found myself agreeing with him. I still can't come close to calling myself a republican but I don't openly admit being a (and defending the) democrat(s). One the other hand, I love watching Keith Obermann at night too to get a balanced supply of both sides. I just wish more people were like me in that they are not so one sided. People need to wake up on both sides of the fence.

For example, the Christian Coalition needs to realize that no matter what happens, abortion is here to stay. Not saying one side of the argument is right or wrong, just the facts. If you can't get it banned with a Republican President who appointed two SC Justices and a Republican Congress, it is not going to ever happen.

Conversely, the poor/black people need to realize that the Democrats are never going to "fix" things for them. They will talk up a big storm but when push comes to shove, they could give two shits about you after they are in office.

It's great that both candidates are promoting "change" but does anybody really think that either candidate is going to change anything. The only real change will come when we impose term limits on Senators and House members (say two terms and you are gone - maybe let a House member run for the Senate - maybe not). Then and only then maybe the focus will not be voting 85-95% with their party President so he/she can keep getting re-elected. Nothing makes me sicker than when a vote comes out and it is right down party lines - give me a break.

As a recovering Democrat, these are the things I have learned:

1) Global Warming is in no way man made but rather part of the cycle of the Earth.

2) The reason Gas is so expensive is because the Democrat/Environmental wacko's will not let us drill for oil anywhere and are fighting hard to eliminate the places we can drill for oil all in the name of Global Warming. Also, oil speculators are why oil is so expensive. If congress announced tomorrow that we will be able to drill for oil in ANWR the price of a barrel of oil would drop 30%.

3) Neither party cares for their voting base - they say whatever it takes to get elected/re-elected then when you can't do what you promised just blame it on the other party and promise, that if you are re-elected you will try even harder to get those things done that you will never be able to get done.

I could write a book so I will stop.
