you dont have to take my opinion for solid fact, i only spent 7 years at NYU studying this field and received my MBA...
i have seen plenty of girls/guys come in just like her and disappeared not soon after... i think she will get through the summer but cant see her lasting past the FALL unless she changes her name/username/and dyes her hair blonde for when she posts banana pic...

Your correct a $1.99 tshirt is not going to do much but having it viewed a million times might help ( no Im not implying I will get you a million views) and having it maybe seen in exclusive places all helps build a brank I would think?
Im not sure from your post if you understand I dont just wear tshirts that is simply a very very small part of what I do...hook up some show organisers if you need more info.
Again I will say I am no marketing expert but my sponsors continue to grow and work seems to increase steady so Im just talking it nice and easy down the path and see how it goes ,good or bad it seems that Im earning as Im learning
