I'm sure the Alexa data can be subject to many factors, including the example you gave above. Overall though, it's still the best we've got for trying to estimate traffic patterns.

Shrug I just think in this case it doesn't apply... You can use Alexa to compare, for example, one tgp to another because they are equal in terms of traffic generation and site navigation and stuff... If you're comparing one paysite that hosts their galleries on a seperate domain to another paysite that hosts the galleries on the same domain, and saying that the latter paysite is bigger according to the Alexa data, that's false.
Just an observation. If two paysites each get 100k gallery hits a day, and 10k tour hits a day, but one hosts their galleries elsewhere, the results would be similar to comparing a 110k/day tgp to a 10k/day tgp.
