A cop has no right to tell someone to stop filming something on public property. He doesn't own that street. It seems like the reporter was trying to find out where to go and the cop finally told him. The only reason the cop hit him is because he made a rude comment and asked for his badge number. That is what the incident was about. If he hadn't done either, he wouldn't have been roughed up.

Maybe that's how you like it here, but I'm not a fan of a country that has the police beat up people for asking for their badge number.
