there aren't really concrete numbers for the online adult industry. a few years ago research firms were expecting adult sales to slow from the growth of the late 90's. i believe the growth rate has been slowing down since the late 90's. since that time the number of people in this business has grown dramatically. now if you don't think that doesn't cut down on profits then you really shouldn't be discussing this issue because you don't have a clue.

No you just don't get it. While there may be a limit to how much an industry can substain porn is nowhere near hitting that limit. You can only sell so many cars a year but that doesn't stop car dealers from getting in the game. Instead of bitching about how many options the surfer has now you should be working on making your program better than others, getting more traffic, more exposure, and better retention. Talk to someone like Quiet about retention. I'm sure he does much better than 95% of the big paysites out there. They work on affiliates and could give a shit how long you stay. They have so many sites a surfer won't remember if they signed up from something from their company. If anything the BIG guys are the ones fucking the business with their endless assault of crap sites pushed by thousands of affiliates. If you get your piece of the pie and work your porn business like any other business you should never be scared of a newb coming along and cutting into your profits. If you are your site is probably worth shit anyway.
