I think he can be the real deal. He is clearly very strong and hits hard. It looks like he is training hard and learning the ground game more. I think the main thing he needs is to be able to defend against the takedown so when he fights a ground fighter he can keep it on their feet where he can dominate. Chuck Liddell does that very well (although Liddell has a wrestling background). He keeps it standing where he can throw punches. I think Kimbo needs to do the same thing while he learns more of the ground game.
I don't see any problem with a few tomato can fights to start off. Just about every fighter starts off with lower quality opponents when they first start out, it is just that Kimbo is much higher in profile than most regular fighters. This guy he is facing tomorrow is not the best fighter in the world, but he is a nice step up and I really look forward to seeing it.
I'm actually just as interested to see if he and his crew get to wear the Reality Kings shirts into the ring on national TV.
