Pokerstars surprise LAPT players with topless chicks!
The LAPT is wrapping up here in San Jose, and unfortunately luck wasn't with me for the tournament. However it was still a lot of fun!
The welcome party shocked pros and amateurs alike, greeting us in a rain forest / jungle-like entrance with topless body-painted chicks, posing as various jungle animals (check pokerstarsblog.com for pics).
I then spent some time having a few drinks with Daniel Negreanu before heading off to my free hotel room (even though I live here, I'm taking advantage of the free four nights hotel to avoid the horrible traffic from my house to here).
The tournament started off well for me, I won some decent pots and by the end of break 1 (2 hours) I was chip leader of my table and it seemed like of the whole tournament, having approx 19000 chips (starting with 10000).
Then an hour later, it was all gone in two quick hands. I was pretty pissed. Here were the hands:
Hand 1:
I'm dealt Qd Qh in the small blind. Only one guy limped in for 150, I make it 600 and big blind folds, the limper calls me.
Flop comes a rainbow Qs 9h 2c so I check, he puts 2000 in and I only call, hoping to draw it out longer. Turn is a 6d, meaning flushes are an impossibility, which is great for me. I still have the nuts hand and doubt he was chasing a runner runner straight, so figure he has maybe Jacks or Kings or Aces or AK or AQ or something and he will call a big bet. I am right, I push 5K in and he re-raises all-in for what he has left, about 8600. I obviously call.
He turns over Kings, which my set of Queens are beating. He gets up to leave and river comes: a King! I was not too happy with that.
The hand right after, with me not having a lot of chips left, I'm dealt Kc 9c and decide to limp in since no one raised. Flop comes out perfect for me, Jc 8c 3c and I just check, followed by two other guys also checking. Next came a 5h, and one guy bets 1.5K which I re-raise all-in with what I got left. He calls. I show my K9 thinking my King flush is good, with no pair on the board yet, but he has Ac 6c ! What are the odds, LOL.
Anyhow that second wasn't as bad as the first beat since he already held the winning hand at the flop, despite the incredible odds of it. Oh well, it was still fun and I got tons of Pokerstars swag in their welcome bag: 2 tshirts, 2 dress shirts, a jacket, two diff hats, a soccer ball and a nice duffel bag.
Final table is today and I see a guy I beat for half his chips in one of the first hands, must have made a nice comeback as he is in there still.
