There is more and more proof atkins is actually the heathlier way. Its not fat that gives you clogged arteries and health disease its insulin that does. Which is the by product of eating complex carbs.

exactly... I eat mostly meat and fresh salad stuff, lots of water and it keeps me in ok shape considering I get zero exercize in front of my computer 15 hours a day.
My best advice is to keep track of things you really like to eat, that fits into your diet regimen, and stick to them until you're burned out on whatever food it is.
A good starter to increase your metabolism and speed up your digestive system is to eat a big huge bowl of salad every day.
I get really, really stoned and eat a big ass bowl of romaine and butter lettuce with greenhouse tomatoes, mushrooms, baby carrots and whatever else. A yummy viniagrette dressing and a little lemon pepper. Diet Cherry 7-Up is really good too hehe.
Lots of meat, steak, chicken, with tobasco and hot stuff which is good too for seasoning. Also chili pepper will help speed up your metabolism too. Its good for cleaning out your pipes hehe.
And fast food is the enemy. But if you can use will power at the drive through, most places do have some decent stuff you can get.
For example: Mc Donalds has these chicken fajita things, I can eat like 3 of them and they're pretty good. El Pollo Loco is good stuff too, lots of their chicken. And best of all In and Out makes a protein style burger which is wrapped in lettuce instead of bread. Sounds kind of bunk, and its a little big messy to eat, but it still damn good and I can eat two of those if I'm really hungry hehe. No fries and a diet drink or water.
Also a good thing is to set small goals, which are easier to achieve. I've been meaning to get into a fitness regimen myself, but trying to make myself commit to several hours a week just wouldn't cut it for me. Gradually changing your eating habits and fitness regimen is the best way to go.
Good luck.
