In the US, you can't file BK against unpaid taxes - not sure about AU. I had a boss who owed $$$ to the government and they put a $3mil lien on an $800K house. They keep the "you owe" on the books for as long as it takes until you pay. My ex owed the IRS and the IRS got paid before I got a dime of child support.
