was just thinking that.
i installed ubuntu over the weekend.
it takes a little playing around with it to get to know the OS but once you know it, you love it.
it's all built around security so even if this software was not deleting itself for some odd reason, you would delete the profile and no more of the specific program issues

as everything for that profile gets erased without effecting any other users

you would need wine though to compile and be able to run windows applications but i believe that in ubuntu 8.04 it comes as a package so you would install the wine package that comes with the OS and you be on your way with no problems

and if you do run into trouble, plenty of people in forums can and do help
