Switched to ubuntu
I've decided to dive in and focus on making ubuntu my workstation OS so if you've been looking for me the past couple days i have my IM's back up (pidgin) now.
I had switched from Vista back down to XP and honestly I was missing the "eye candy" but couldn't deal with the performance hit and general stability issues. I'm upgrading to quad core and 8Gb RAM so instead of switching to win64 I decided what the hell.... Diving into ubuntu 64 and not having TOO many issues outside of some lame boot loader problems since I previously had a triple boot. It was a bit harder than it should have been to configure my dual monitors. I had to unhook one of them for the install to work.
I've already either figured out how to get my windows app to work with wine or found a replacement. This really isn't for everybody but ease of updates and finding quick answers to my questions is going quite nicely. I made the switch mainly for testing out a video encoder project but decided to make this a fully functional OS.
