The money can be good, I've had friends live for years off of residuals from 1 ad. One good friend of mine got paid $30k a year just so they could use her 5 second spot where she eats some yoplait yogurt and smiles...LOL
But spots like that are few and far between.

Yeah a couple of friends of mine do the commercial gig, and do pretty good with it at that, but that's not my thing. I'm not commercial material, so I don't try for them. Where I live at right now is definitely a commercial market so I'll be leaving within a year to greener pastures.
The great thing about being in an Internet business is I have a lot more free time then other people trying to do acting as a career, and I can live pretty much anywhere as long as there's a connection. I'm also far from starving so I'm not so desperate for parts... makes it a little easier to relax when auditioning.
