Without the early guys like him, the music coudl be ALOT different.
Charley Patton. I dont even know where to start. Alcoholic womanizing mullato during the height of jim crow south with a musical genius that goes unrivaled. Listening to Charley Patton weave slave spiritual influenced gospel with underpinnings of blue grass into an entirely new genre of music is nothing short of chilling. He is without a doubt, the single most important musical figure of the 20th century. I could rant about this guy for hours.

One of my most prized pieces of vinyl.
