My dog is home and her name is......
KODY! I played with names on the way home and it just fits. She is very nervous and the bitch that had her before I guess always yelled at her and hit her on the head. Every time I go to pet her head she closes her eyes like she is waiting to be hit on the head. Plus she hides in the corner of the garage. I am not parking my truck in there for a while because for some reason she runs to the corner of the garage so I am giving her the garage until she gets use to me and the house. I am leaving the door to the garage from the kitchen open 24/7. She feels like she is being bad when she comes in the house so she will go from the back yard straight to the corner of the garage. I guess the bitch always told her to go to her room or maybe that is where she went to hide, I don?t know, but I give her praise every time she comes in the house and treats when she lays downs in the house. I finally have her upstairs now lying behind me as I type this. It took all day just to get her to know its okay to be in the house, but I can tell she is uncomfortable like she is doing something bad. It breaks my heart. I want to seriously fuck the bitch up that did this to her. I would give anything to break her fucking face, but Kody is here and she is learning. Here are some pics of her:
The ride home in the back of the truck. She is chewing a pig ear. She is a great rider. I opened the back of the truck and she jumped right in.

Kody getting her first drink of water in her new home.

This is the corner of the garage she went to on her own and wanted to stay. You can see my kitty Calvin checking her out. Amazing enough there are no problems with her and the kitties. They don't care for her but Calvin is very interested in her and the kitty?s personalities haven't changed at all and that is a big relief.

I went and bought a bed for her corner. So while she is getting use to me and the house at least she has a cozy bed in that corner. She rolled all over it right away and had the look of, ?This bed is all for me?? Breaks me heart.

Kody on her bed with her squeaky bunny. She loves her bunny already and that is the only toy I leave out all the time. All the other toys come out when its play time so they do not lose their effect.

Kody and Bunny.

I took her to get groomed to wash off all the bad from the place she was at and she bit the lady right when she started to wet her. The girl was so nice and was apologizing to me. I was worried thinking great I just get a dog and now I am going to get sued. haha But it was my fault the spa is too much right now for her. I have to wait. I have an outside shower and I got some good shampoo and brushes so I will wash her myself. I should have known better.
Last thing, I know this email is long but this is funny. When I got her home I tried out some commands to see if she had any training, so I was saying SIT SIT SIT and nothing. I tried for a while, nothing then I thought about it and said Platz (not sure how to spell it) and she sat. haha The lady didn't tell me that she doesn't speak English she speaks German. LOL Still not sure why sit wouldn't work because sitzen sie sounds close to sit.
Anyway things are great and Kody and I are very happy! Any suggestions from anyone on how to help Kody become comfortable or related stories from other people who have dealt with a rescue dog that is older like Kody and timid because of a previous owner or potential abuse, I would appreciate to hear how you handled it. Oh and she already comes to her name Kody. I said Kody calmly and softly and she got up from her bed and came right over to me. I think Sheba is a bad name and should never be said again.
