An average NFL Stadium holds 65.000 fans. The biggest Hockey rink holds +/- 23.000 and that's the Bell Center in Montreal. Each NFL game holds up to 3 times more fans in stadium than an NHL game. Do the maths.
An NHL season is 82 games, an NFl is 16 games, you want to tell me that an NFL player has a much tougher job then an NHL player?
