In my opinion it's impossible to compare people from different eras. The game was completely different when Jordan played. It was much, much more physical back then. They didn't have any where near the touch fouls they have in today's game. IMO its easier to manipulate the rules in today's game. Which results in guards being able to dominate easier. In today's game Kobe is impossible to cover because he can play inside out and if you touch him it's a foul. You also don't have the centers and forwards of Jordan's era in today's game.
What made Jordan great was his ability to control the tempo and perform in the clutch. IMO Kobe has the physical attributes to be the greatest of all time but he still has a lot of work to do.
Kobe won early because he had Shaq. Shaq is an amazing athlete, to be that big and agile with soft hands! Unreal, seriously! Kobe would still be searching for his first title if it wasn't for Shaq.
Imo Jordan is still the greatest of all time. Kobe has the chance to take the thrown, but he needs to dominate the next five years. It's to early in Kobe's career to declare him the greatest of all time.
