It's a good thread none the less. Back when I started working from home I thought it would be no big deal. Wow was I wrong. I have lost girlfriends over it, had family issues, and other shit happen I could have never anticipated. It got to the point that I decided to rent a small office just to avoid the problems.
As for the girlfriends, wives, friends rolling their eyes or saying things like "your not busy" or "your just playing on the computer" it is due to them slowly become jealous and then angry at your lifestyle. I had a recent girlfriend who became crazy over it eventually led to us breaking up. She had to leave for work at 7am and it drove her nuts I started when I wanted to.
If you can afford it I would recommend renting a small office and spending at least 5-6 hours a day there. You will be amazed at how much more productive you will become without the distractions. Just be sure not to tell to many people where your office is as my first one turned into a party hangout within a few weeks.
