How much money is this industry losing to pirated porn?
I don't know and neither do you. You and I know how much we are losing but not the industry. Not talking about DVD and magazines who are losing.
The people who would know are CCBILL, Epoch, Verotel and probably Visa and MC.
Now if you read the boards you get the impression the business is imploding and it's because the surfer is not paying for porn. Pirated or what ever. But how true is this?
Is the money that was spent on paysites being spent on dating and cam sites. Is the money that was going to 10,000 people now going to 20,000. Or is the money that was going to 10,000 people now going to 1,000?
I don't expect Mark at CCBILL to come in here and tell us if his earnings on Internet porn is falling, steady or rising. But is it logical that companies who rely on customers spending money would sit back and watch the industry crumble because pirating meant people were not spending money at the same rate?
Think of it logically. And not from only your perspective. We know many of you are suffering, but is the revenue from "Adult Internet" suffering?
And if it is how long before Visa and MC start to think we are simply not worth the effort. Then would CCBILL, Epoch, Verotel and the other billers sit back and watch it happen?
All pirating, is supported by people spending money. If the money stops flowing the people who lose on the Net are the billers. The question I'm poising goes way beyond porn. Less records being bought means less credit cards being used in shops and online stores.
Or is the money being spent elsewhere and we are to stuck in the rut to change?
