Blueray is amazing. true 1080p with very very very little compression on the video side of things. You generally cannot play an HD-DVD on a blueray player unless it's a dual format player.. however the dual format players tend to suffer from a drop in product quality.

thanks for the info.
I asked because I am looking for a new video camera. Main reason will be for videos of my son, But it may get used for other things as well, and want to make sure I don't waste money on something that will be replaced soon.
