HD cameras that use electronic memory won't go anywhere but the disk based ones will become obsolete and replaced with blueray recordable ones.

Blueray is amazing. true 1080p with very very very little compression on the video side of things. You generally cannot play an HD-DVD on a blueray player unless it's a dual format player.. however the dual format players tend to suffer from a drop in product quality.
