Give it a try. You'd be suprized. I honestly had the same problem about a year ago and used that software. Drive not detected in bios, but that software found it. Then you can see all the data on the drive and copy it over to a healthy drive. Takes a long time if you have a lot of data, but it was a real life saver for me!

I did try and it didn't see anything having to do with that drive, unfortunately. Which software was it that you used?
