If Tarantino didn't toss his name some where on this movie, no one would have even heard about it. Sadly, this movie was also referred to as "the Saw killer". Was that some sort of horrible joke or what? Everyone I know didn't enjoy this movie. Some were even left speechless. No, not in a good way. They couldn't believe a movie could be so bad. Here, lets look at some things.

Hostel

TOTAL LIFETIME GROSSES
Domestic: $47,326,473 58.7%
+ Foreign: $33,252,461 41.3%
= Worldwide: $80,578,934

Opening Weekend: $19,556,099
(2,195 theaters, $8,909 average)
% of Total Gross: 41.3%
Widest Release: 2,337 theaters
Close Date: February 16, 2006
In Release: 42 days / 6 weeks

Summary: I think some people got fooled by clever marketing.

Hostel 2

TOTAL LIFETIME GROSSES
Domestic: $17,609,452 49.4%
+ Foreign: $18,010,069 50.6%
= Worldwide: $35,619,521

Opening Weekend: $8,203,391
(2,350 theaters, $3,490 average)
% of Total Gross: 46.6%
Widest Release: 2,350 theaters
Close Date: July 5, 2007
In Release: 28 days / 4 weeks

Summary: No one got fooled this time.

Why wouldn't anyone want to see a sequel for Hostel even though the original did decent in theaters? Was it because a ton of people felt they got ripped off when they watched the original? I think so.

Now, I'm not picking at anyone. If you like this movie, good. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I, myself, could not find any joy/thrill in watching either of the Hostel movies.

Plain and simple. If you're curious about a movie, you should see it. You can't rely on others opinions about it. Everyone has varying opinions and tastes. By listening to them, you may be missing out on something. Just think, you could potentially enjoy this movie and kick yourself in the ass for waiting so long to watch it. Hell, you may even find the need to own it on DVD. Either way, the decision is your's. If you enjoy it, I'm glad. I'm just saying that I didn't enjoy it.
