if you're going to fall, land flat. distribute your weight over more surface area. also, once you start making some turns, don't fear picking up speed. speed actually makes your turns easier, and if you're moving along it takes away from the impact should you fall. another tip, do NOT put your hands down to break your fall, all you'll break is your wrists. i've seen it happen so many times when i was a liftie. what it comes down to is not giving up, once you can make turns both ways, just keep going with it, you're probably gonna be ass sliding for a while yet, don't worry about groups of laughing kids or anything like that. don't let anything break your spirits, it's easy enough, and withing a few days you should be breaking down greens and blues without much trouble...
oh, and for the sake of everyone who isn't a punter, try not to take up the entire run cutting back and the full width all the time. give them a nice lane to cruise by you on. there's nothing drives me more fucking crazy than coming up full speed behind someone who's taking up the entire run, or destroying ahuge area of fresh powder. try to not sit down for too long anywhere you might be hidden away from view too. there's always crowds of noobs hidden around corners, or on the backside of a big roller. i completely creamed some chick at the hill a couple years ago doing that. she's damn lucky we both walked away from that one with any serious injuries.
