I hear that although Nelson has residents that take a lot of pride in where they live and they really look after the place well, a large percentage of the wealth and revenue to all the town businesses is a direct result of the massive outdoor marijuana crops that grow in the Slocan valley. Basically, without the drug money - the town's economy would suffer.
