I understand that you have to build a fighter up, but how many fights does it take to "build a record in the game"? You tell me, because right now Paul Bunetello has called Kimbo out, and is looking to put himself back on the map, but will Kimbo take it? Probably not, because there is a good chance he might lose. So from a marketing staind point, I guess your point is vaild, but in the end it will only hurt Kimbos legacy if he keeps fighting these tomato cans. And isn't a fighters legacy the most important thing, when a fighter isn't just about money, fame, and sponsors? But rather more keen on keeping his legacy alive?

Keeping one's legacy alive meant much more when all you needed was a legacy to pay rent. These days you better get paid or wind up in a homeless
shelter with your legacy which will forever be altered as one of failure.
Kimbo is the "draw". He brings in the numbers no matter who he fights so there is no need whatsoever for him to chose a specific fighter to bring
in the numbers.
This scenario would logically be milked until Kimbo needed a specific fighter
to draw the numbers again.
This is a matter of "You versus They" :
You want to see fights and They want to make money so You don't matter.
