Be sure that if you drink you make them give you a bottled beer and let you open it. Last time I had a mixed drink there whatever they put in it freaked me out. I think it is supposed to loosen you up so you gamble more, but it had the opposite affect on me.
Then, head down to the west coast area of Playa Guiones area and do some surfing. Great workout, and it is paradise.

Sounds like San Jose is the place to be except I am not looking to gamble or partake of any mainstream tourist activities
my sole purpose is to have the good time I cannot have in the states.
would you still say San Jose is the place to be?
In the DR everything is pretty much out in the open as far as the needs of american and canadian / eu tourist
is it the same in costa rica? I mean will they just know like in the DR or will I have to work hard to find what I am looking for?
also in the DR not many peo[ple speak english... is the same for costa rica
