Fuck the commercials. They are a pain in the ass

Hi -
Normally I hate commercials, but at the same time as a business owner I am always interested in how other companies advertise.
It's clear that Ford wants to sell ALL of their cars, not just mustangs. So, if you were Ford, how would you do it?
I'd say that the movie cost about $7M to make and its a good bet that Ford paid for most of that. It's a huge gamble, right? So how do you make it pay off?
Make a decent story. Leave the creatives to the creative types. Pretty actors, good FX, good production values. Viewers have to sit still and enjoy the show if you're going to sell them a car.
NExt how do you not make them TIVO past the commercials? By incorporating show elements into the commercials, thats how. But, we viewers are a sofisticated lot and will probably want to TIVO past them anyway, right? Not if they're entertaining we won't. Each commercial featured the Mustang, even while it was selling a different car. They did it with humor too and, as a viewer, I didn't feel insulted.
I'm telling you - like the show or not, but pay attention to how the ads worked. The Ford guys are smart!
