I'm in Huntington Beach... and love every minute of it...
You can't judge a city by it's tourist traps... Lame St. is horrible. Only reason we ever go near it is for a nice walk on the pier, or if friends are already planning a bar excursion starting there.
The city, and county both are quiet when you want them to be, but plenty going on if you know where to look.
My only problem with OC has been vacationing typically sucks... We go anywhere else, all we look forward to is coming back home to OC where it's nicer.
