Also 21 states have SMALLER populations than orange ounty
Just because it has a big population and there are freeways everywhere doesn't mean it's not the boonies.

For example, the inland empire also has a big population
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inland_Empire_(California)

Population Ranked 14th in the U.S.
- Total CSA - 17,775,984 [1]

MSA - 4,026,135[2]

but I consider that the total boonies, it's out in the middle of nowhere and I would die if I live there. I'd MUCH rather live in OC than the Inland empire or San Bernardino County. Those areas are even more depressing. Like REALLY depressing. They are so far out there they can't even receive the popular Los Angeles radion stations like KIIS FM. I don't know how to explain it, it's just the total boonies, even though there is a large population, there's shopping centers and malls everywhere, freeways everywhere, they probably have plenty of nightclubs (but not cool ones like in LA) it's still considered "out there in the sticks". Yes, they are all big cities, but not "LA" type cities, but like boonie cities.
