When will news media catch up with sports media?
Sports coverage learned back in the early 70's that if some idiots jump onto the field in the middle of a live televised game and you show them and talk about them, it perpetuates the problem.
After Hank Aaron broke the home run record and those jerks jumped onto the field and ran around the bases, other jerks disrupted countless other games by imitating them. Hey, they were all over the tv and news, lets do that!
But sports media started, and still does, put on a concerted effort to tilt the camera's AWAY from the jerk off's, and such incidents have dropped dramatically as a result. No fame, no stupid glory, no "hey did you see me on tv???". None of that happens anymore.
Now we have jerks who go shoot up schools and such, and the news media fights it out to be the first to "break" the persons name and picture all over the screen or page.
So why don't they realise that 99% of the reason why these people do it is because they know their name and face will be on every TV in the country as soon as humanly possible? Is common sense truly a dead way of life?
Thoughts? Comments? Marriage proposals? Insults?
