You'd have to be a complete fucking retard to leave your gun sitting around with your kid. A COMPLETE FUCKING RETARD. You'd pretty much have to be a god damn crackhead to leave a handgun laying around with a toddler in the house. The majority of children who are killed in accidental gun accidents are mor ein the 7-12 area, and that is plenty old enough to have an understanding and respect for firearms instilled in you. When i was that age i would spend entire summer days by myself shooting off bricks of shells at gophers, or walking bush hunting for rabbits. my brother did the same, as did many many of my good friends at that age. if i have kids, i'm confident that they'll be level headed and educated enough in firearm use to do the same.
