Dirty F, even if one successfully made the argument that banning guns nationwide would reduce crime and murder in the aggregate (it surely would), that still doesn't mean that fact alone should lead one to conclude that a banning gun ownership is something that should be done. Other factors such as individual choice and freedoms, as written into the Bill of Rights are important to consider also.
Of course one could also make the argument that alcohol and tobacco should be banned outright just because it would save lives but few are making that argument...
