Why? There's only one reason to show respect to cops - to avoid situations like this where they go nuts and massively over-react and decide to show you their little balls. Basically, you have to act subservient to a douchebag who makes $25k per year so that he doesn't hold you hostage and LOOK for reasons to fuck with you.
