A hospital in Australia is being sued by a woman who says the fetus she miscarried 18 weeks into her pregnancy was placed by staff into the bag containing her personal effects. A towel was wrapped around it and inside a package with her name on it.
The hospital has been sued many times in recent weeks for malpractice, including a damaged penis from a collapsed operating bed during a procedure; a girl suffering brain damage during birth; and a death due to excessive bleeding after giving birth.
Luke Mullane, Ballarat Health spokesman, said recommendations will be considered on improving quality, adding there "have been a number of changes made in our procedures to ensure that families have the opportunity to consider their care options."
