The problems with travel do not stop there. Say I live in a state where I do not need my papers. Then I travel by car to another state that requires you to have your papers. Some states may even require you to swipe your ID when you pass through toll booths. You are no longer free to travel your own country.

The law needs to be challenged constitutionally for anything real to stop it from happening.
This is not true at all. You won't need to have "papers" but instead a national ID, which will replace your current ID - Your driver's license.

You need your driver's license to do nearly anything today anyhow. You can't drive without it, can't fly without, and need it to use your credit card (Well, they are supposed to ask for it.)

I dont see much of a difference, it's more of getting all the states on one platform instead of having fity different kinds of IDs.

This could be great for our industry. The next time someone under age gets a fake national ID and we use it for our records... We can blame it on the federal goverment instead of California ID - such as the case with Traci Lords.
