Narcolepsy in dogs is often hereditary. Certain breeds or more prone to it than others. It isn't a seizure disorder. They do call them cataleptic episodes and is often associated with the dog being excited or eating. It has been treated successfully with a couple of different drugs.
Looks alot like the dachshund we had when I was a teenager. He had epilepsy.
