And you're missing the point... it isn't "cancer" that's transmitted.
Human papillomavirus (HPV)... aka "warts" (though warts may or may not present in someone infected with HPV (you don't have to have "warts" to have HPV - most don't)) is a highly transmittable STD.
I once heard that 3 out of every 4 people have HPV - but I'm not sure how accurate that statistic is.
The STD has been known to lead to the development of certain types of cancers - the most common of which is cervical cancer in females affecting something like 10% of women who have HPV.
Looks like oral cancer for men is also a concern.
