When I was in college, one of my teachers worked for the Air Force Research Lab that was on the campus and he got our whole class into the lab to fly these prototype F-16 simulators. That was probably one of the coolest things I've ever done in my life.
The experiment they were doing was trying to get rid of the motion simulators because they couldn't accurately replicate the movement of a jet, so they used satelite images to create a picture that surrounded the cockpit to make your brain feel like it's moving.
It worked too. When I got out of the simulator, I had the weird feeling in my legs like I just got off a boat. It was fun.
