There's been talk of this for some time. Essentially the objective is to simplify things for everyone. But I agree it becomes quite alarming when you look beyond the primary purpose here.

I think they used to joke a few decades back that one day we wouldn't be given names at birth just numbers. That day isn't far away it seems . . . .
