The Sheriff was telling the story about two deputies that had been killed in an ambush 10 years ago. At the end of the story he started talking about the improvements in equipment and technology today (that may have saved their lives if it had happened today).

He mentioned that he had recently ridden around in a test vehicle that had the ability to automatically scan license plate numbers of vehicles in the front, behind and to the side of the patrol unit and check for wants and warrants on said vehicles, giving them the ability to make hits they were not even looking for!

I am going to try to have my license plate number blocked thru one of my kids (both of theirs are).

It reminded me of an instance about 15 years ago where I had to do some work for a company that developed equipment for the military. It was around the time RoboCop was out, and I remember thinking that RoboCop wasn't too far fetched of a concept. Looks like they are getting closer and closer every day.
yup. that is absolutely true.

LAPD already has cars like this on the road, as does the CHP.

personally, i prefer this.
