I consider myself very spiritual, but not at all religious. Religions are human organizations first, above and beyond all other considerations. Dont be fooled. That in itself is a "false idol".
A more real example of hypocrisy IMHO is very religious people who also believe in the death penalty. Thou shalt not kill, dumbasses. On the one hand you believe that when you die you'll pass on to a higher realm. Even if you are standing at the pearly gates and are sent to purgatory or hell, you have ASCENDED to a higher plane of existence. Yet in your arrogant ignorance, you believe you can ignore the first fucking commandment because of some human law system. Life in prison without possibility of parole is much harder on a person than releasing them from life so they can pass on and be judged by God. What is considered by some to be the "harshest punishment" is the complete opposite, and the ultimate violation of your beliefs. Massive FAIL. Unless of course someone yanks a passage out of a book written 200 years after the facts to selectively justify their own actions. Gee that'd never happen with a CHURCH would it??? Goodness me! IMHO 100% of christian's should oppose the death penalty, no exeptions. Else be excommunicated. But dont worry, you can change your mind then go to confessional and be absolved and have a clean slate. Convenient guilt absolution too? It's one stop shopping!
How about giving us lowly humans some credit for the good AND bad that happens around us? You know when Elizabeth Smart was spotted walking down a road by a woman and a man in a car who called police... the father got on CNN and thanked......... GOD for returning his daughter to him through divine intervention. Really? I'd thank the woman and the man personally. Did he thank god that she was kidnapped, or blame some lowly humans? Was he pissed off at god when she went missing? Hows that work anyway? Well all I know is it was all part of gods plan, because managing our own lives is clearly too much for us. Thats all I'm allowed to know.
Then there were the religious leader morons, specifically Jerry Falwell, who said that God sent hurricane katrina to devastate the united states to punish us. Fuck you Jerry. It's called meteorology. You were a complete load. He also said we should "blow them off the face of the earth in the name of the lord" when he spoke about Islamic extremists. Now I know the bible is replete with violence inflicted by the lord on humans, but I think we lowly humans can figure out whats what and set it right without resorting to idiocy such as that. Why didnt you try to "feed the hungry in the name of the lord" while you were alive? Too busy sitting on your seat at your university? Huh.. isn't that something. Guess a hypocritical war monger needs a tax exempt status to "spread the word".. the word of division and violence against those who disagree. Oh and lets not forget the political endorsements! Cant forget those. Spread that word too, asshat.
Do unto others as you'd have them do unto you buddy. You should appreciate that indeed they also want to blow you away in the name of their lord. Make sense to anyone? Idiots like this did nothing but keep religion in the US in the 12th century for as long as they can. Why? Thats why we have a term: self righteous. If every person in the united states was christian, well thats 300 million compared to BILLIONS of bhuddists and BILLIONS of hindi! Arrogant fucks walking around all righteous thinking jesus has his hand directly up their ass making them talk shit. It's fucking retarded! True. Literal. Mental. Retardation!
So.. I'd call myself spiritual, but absolutely NOT religious..because these organizations of division are pretty much 100% full of shit.
Hows about you?
