nah, some species can deliver a strike from their rear legs that'll hurt, but the venom glands are up front. they sting with with the maxillipeds (the large orangish fangs you see up under it's head) they connect up to venom glands inside the body. they'll latch into you with those pincers and can either give you a dry hit, which still hurts like hell, or if they decide to they squeeze muscles inside the body which force the venom through hollow tubes in the maxillipeds to inject the venom. that there is one of the most venomous species of centipedes around, also one of the largest. he's just over 11", and last i checked on some hobbyist forums, i have one of the largest kept specimens in the hobby. he's the pride of my collection and has taken down full grown mice, frogs, and giant cockroaches. they're vicious feeders. i was warned over and over again that handling him was aBAD idea, but i've felt like tempting fate a few times...
