It's not that it's nasty, per se...

I think it's that domesticated dogs can serve other purposes for humans than lunch. Pretty much anything that Western culture eats (aside from maybe horsemeat - which isn't all too common in the U.S.) that's been domesticated doesn't serve much more of a purpose (from humanity's perspective) than being a mobile food maturation sack.
