That difference is only compounded, imho, when you consider that it's religious zealousness - and not political/philosophical ideals - that fuel a good number of the "terrorist" attacks.
I still hold to my long-standing point (in agreement with you), however, that the 'War on Terror' is a profoundly stupid way to put it, and should insult the intelligence of every man, woman, and child in America... if not everyone in the West.

I agree. There are groups like Al Qaeda which are a disgrace to humanity but people tend to get the wrong stick and put all other groups in the same bag as them. For example, Lebanon war 2006 with Israel and Hezbullah. In Lebanon, Israel killed over 1000 civillians, and in Israel Hezbullah killed 26 civillians and yet they are still called the terrorists. There needs to be a distinction.
Though yeah I was mainly reffering to the people who are merely defending their country (Iraq, LEbanon & Palestine),
