I really would love to have more comparable numbers given the increased population.. it's true all i can go by is number of human deaths, though it's still a valid statistic .. the rainiest day will involve more water

It's impossible to say what would have been, but there were lots of ethnic groups the romans could have wiped out but didn't and there was more than one attempt to wipe out ethnic groups in the 20th century (serbia, sudan etc)

We have civilized ourselves in a way for sure though, eg. violence is definitely less prevalent as entertainment
