It kind of sounds like you missed the whole point
of Brad's post. 96% of the time Cogent is not the best
choice for a particular connection, so Mojohost
doesn't use Cogent 96% of the time. 4% of the
time, the fastest route from one place to another is
Cogent, so Mojohost uses Cogent for those connections.
Similarly with the other backbone providers - Mojohost
uses the best backbone for each particular route
by actually measuring the perfomance of the
different routes throughout the day. As shown
by the number posted, that will sometimes DOUBLE
the speed of the link compared to another host who
akes assumptions about which backbone will be
best. Sometimes Cogent is twice as fast as Level3
and it darn sure akes sense to use Cogent in those
instances where it's twice as fast.

Now the only question is do NatNet and ISPrime ALSO
use an FCP in a similar fashion in order to always
use the best route?
If not, NatNet customers are paying for premium
brand bandwidth when Cogent would be both faster
and cheaper.
