They're paying for mistakes like that this year big time. I wouldn't write off nextg year though, like lenny and a few others have said already... anything can happen between now and then.

You're way off base on that assesment.
When the trade was made almost every GM in the biz thought the dolphins got the better end of it.
They also thought the dolphins got good value for Chris Chambers, whom they also got a 2nd round pick for.
Welker looks awesome because of the QB who's throwing to him and the other weapons on that team that defenses have to account for.
But he's just a #3 slot receiver and good special teams player. Even after the year he's had in New England, you'd be hard pressed to find a GM willing to give up their 2nd and 7th round picks this year for him.
